Day 118.

When she came down the stairs, she wasn't completely sure she knew what to expect. Her feet were bare, and the carpet squished between her toes. It was like walking on air, or the beach. Eventually, she got to the last step and took a breath before stepping onto the floor. She looked around and didn't see anyone. The house was beautiful. She hadn't noticed it yesterday. She was too lost in her own world, angry and confused, to see anything. Now that she had a good night's sleep, a shower, and fresh clothes, she could finally take a look around. Everything was new and clean and in it's place. She felt like a trespasser and like a bull in a China shop, afraid to touch anything or even to make a sound. Other than the random, subtle clang of a dish every so often, the house was in absolute silence. She'd been so used to living among the clatter of the city streets that it was unsettling and calming at the same time.
